The Music Booster Club (an umbrella booster organization representing band, orchestra, choir, and guitar boosters) sponsors an monthly Great Lakes gift certificate fundraiser. You have over 500 retailers to choose from in apparel, dining, discount stores, department stores, electronics, office supplies, entertainment, gasoline, grocery, home improvement, online shopping, specialty, sporting goods, and travel. You can purchase the certificates for gifts or for personal use and receive FREE MONEY for band fundraising accounts. You can also take orders from friends/family/neighbors which can be applied to your account. Profit varies by retailer (e.g., 4% Giant, 3% for Sheetz, 9% for Borders). View Great Lakes SCRIP Program Flier.. Orders must be placed online by the first Monday of each month. You pay for your gift cards either online (debit from your checking account) or write a check and take it to your nearest area coordinator (area coordinators are listed on the website). Area coordinators then deliver your gift cards to you the following week. The profit is not large, but on the other hand, it's "free" money for not much effort that can add up to a significant amount over a year. For example, last month I purchased:
- Giant Food, $300 gift cards and $12 profit
- Sheetz, $100 gift card and $3 profit
- Red Robin, $50 gift card and $4.50 profit
- Panera Bread, $50 gift card and $4.50 profit
- Chipotle, $20 gift card and $2 profit
TOTAL PROFIT to trip account in August: $26: At $26 profit per month, I'll be able to deduct one of the band spring trip payments from my daughter's band trip account rather than having to write a check. To start participating in the fundraiser, all you need to do is read the flier to learn how to set up your user account. Questions? Feel free to contact me, Debbie Falatko,
