Dance Marathon, was held January 26, 2008 (Closed)
Dear Friends, Families, and Supporters of the Westfield Choral Program,
The Dance Marathon that the Chorus Program held in October was so successful that we are set to have another one this month. On Saturday, January 26, choral students will participate in the Performing Arts Dance Marathon. This time the band, orchestra, guitar and theatre students will join us in our fundraiser. Students will accept pledge donations from friends, family members and other supporters. Pledge amounts are per hour danced. The marathon is 8 hours, from 3:00pm until 11:00 p.m. Students will receive 100% of money earned (after a $10 participation fee) toward their competition trips! This is a great way to help students participate in what is sure to be a memorable, rewarding and educational music competition experience in San Francisco.
There is one small change from the way that we operated last time. Rather than deducting the student participation fee of $10 after pledges have been collected, this money is due at the time of registration at the event on January 26th. Students must have their pledge sheets in hand in order to register and should have already accumulated pledge or donation promises.
After the big event, students will receive a sheet certifying their participation and number of hours danced, as well as an official collection envelope. It will be each student’s responsibility to collect all pledges and remit the earnings to the Choral Booster Organization. Trip accounts will then be credited with the earnings! All pledges must be collected and turned in by Friday, February 14. Funds from the Dance Marathon will be allocated to trip accounts in time for the third and final trip payment in February.
As with all fundraisers, the Dance Marathon is optional, but we hope your student will participate since it is definitely going to be a lot of fun! Please contact Choral Director Jessica Lardin (Jessica.Lardin@fcps.edu) or Choral Booster President Gay Beach (gay.beach@verizon.net) if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jessica Lardin
