It's Official - the Westfield High School Marching Bulldogs have been selected to march in the 2014 Tournament of Roses® Parade in Pasadena, California!
This will be the 125th Rose Parade, one of our nations's iconic New Year traditions and one of the highest honors a high school marching band can receive. 275 Westfield Students will participate!
Only 12 Bands are invited each year to march in the Rose Parade. Selection includes an extensive application process that was started a year ago and completed for final review in May 2012. Videos, pictures, and national letters of recommendation are required for consideration. Over 100 bands apply for the parade annually.
The Rose Parade is viewed live by 1,000,000 people. Another 45,000,000 watch across the United States and the parade is broadcast in over 220 countries in 25 languages, bringing the worldwide audience to about 90,000,000 people.
The Westfield Marching Marching Band is the first band from Fairfax County to be selected and only the third high school band selected from Virginia in the 125 year history of the parade.
Westfield's selection is a proud moment for the students and parents of the Westfield Band, Westfield High School, Fairfax County, and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
