Bands are placed within their class according to receipt of application and fee (first received, last in class). Schedule as published will be followed explicitly. Please arrive on time to allow for registration and preparation to enter warm-up. Each band will have 15 minutes to use the locker rooms to dress. Bands have 15 minutes total for their show; delays and time overages will be documented and ½ point will be deducted for every 15 seconds in excess of 15 minutes.
A final reminder, Henrico County Schools does not permit smoking on campus. Your cooperation concerning this regulation is appreciated.
The Godwin band parents and students have worked very hard in preparing and presenting a viable and successful contest. I encourage you to read all enclosed information and call me if have any questions. Our desire is to make this event a great experience for your band students. Best wishes for a most enjoyable and rewarding day at Mills E. Godwin High School. We look forward to seeing you and thank you for supporting the Invitational.
A wide variety of delicious foods will be available from our Concessions stand including Wendy’s chili, Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches, Alexander’s BBQ, Figaro’s pizza, and of course the perennial favorites – hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, fries and nachos.
In the event of rain, we hold the contest as a standstill performance in the gym. The marching caption will not be taken into consideration. A decision will be made the day before the contest if inclement weather is in the forecast and you will be notified. Should you choose not to attend, we would appreciate receiving notice of that decision. With that said, we will have exceptional weather.
