2012 WHS Band Spring Trip Information


Virginia International Music Festival & Virginia International Tattoo
Virginia Beach, VA

Dates: April 26-29, 2012

Cost: $625 per student, 1st payment of $125 due November 11, 2011, 2nd & 3rd payments of $250 each due January 13 and February 29, 2012

Transportation: Motor Coach

Details: The spring band trip is one of the greatest experiences our high school students will have. We will be traveling to Virginia Beach as a concert band to compete in the Virginia International Music Festival at Chrysler Hall. They have partnered with the Virginia International Tattoo to create this festival and whose performance we will attend at the Scope Arena. This is an opportunity to have our students evaluated on an international level with top adjudicators from around the country. The band will also be marching in the Festival of Nations parade, which is a regionally televised event on Saturday morning, allowing the color guard to join us.

We have attempted to keep the trip expenses to a minimum, so please consider the opportunities and experiences your student will gain while understanding the following in making a commitment to participate:

  • Each band must make its own quota regarding personnel and instrumentation. This may mean that some students will play up within the next higher band.
  • Students must participate in scheduled after school rehearsals in preparation of the trip.
  • Students must remain in good standing with the band and be up-to-date with all required booster fees.
  • Monies are non-refundable as we must make deposits and advanced payments in committing to the trip.
  • Yours and your student’s signatures below indicate your student will participate in the trip and you as the parent/guardian agree to fund the trip according to the guidelines in this document.
