Westfield High School's Award Winning Percussion Ensemble Benefit Concert

January 8, 2007 at 7 PM ~ Westfield Auditorium ~ 4700 Stonecroft Blvd~ Chantilly ~ VA 20151

BOA LogoThe Westfield High School Percussion Ensemble announces its fifth Benefit Concert, January 8th, 2007, 7:00 PM, Westfield High School Auditorium, with Special Guests Westfield Jazz.

“This year's concert has a special purpose,’ says John Kilkenny, Percussion Program Coordinator for Westfield High School. We will be performing at the 2007 Bands of America National Percussion Festival March 14-28 2007, and need to raise the necessary funds to get the students to Indianapolis, Indiana in March.

Over 20 percussion ensembles from across the country applied for this year's National Percussion Festival eight were selected. This opportunity is a great honor for the entire music program, and indeed, all of Westfield High School. As part of the Festival, students will attend performances, clinics and master classes with an all-star roster of internationally renowned artists and educators, as well as performing in an excellent venue for an attentive and knowledgeable audience.

We need your help to get there! Join us on January 8 for an amazing evening of music featuring all 38 members of the Westfield Percussion Ensemble with Special Guests, Westfield Jazz! Admission is just $10 for Adults and $6 for Students and seniors.

The Bands of American National Concert Band and Percussion Festival (www.bands.org) is the nations premiere performance and educational opportunity for high school students. The festivals mission is to focus a national spotlight on the core of our nation's band programs – the concert band, percussion ensemble and Jazz bands. This year's Festival will take place in March 2007 in Indianapolis, Indiana at Butler University.

The Westfield Percussion Ensemble has appeared at numerous festivals and concert halls, including the Center for the Arts at George Mason University, the Clarice Smith Center for the Arts at the University of Maryland, Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts, The 2006 Capital Fourth Celebration (televised and broadcast for an international audience), Virginia/DC Day of Percussion, Virginia Music Educators Conference, and the 2003 BOA National Percussion Festival.

SAVE THE DATE – JANUARY 8, 2007 at 7 PM – and plan to join us!
