Hopefully you have received an email from Debbie Falatko asking for volunteers for this year’s District festival (March 11,12,13). If not, please use my plea here to volunteer to help out. Even if you can only do an hour here or there on one day, it would be greatly appreciated. We have many jobs to fill. There is a meeting for all committee chairs, this Thursday, March 4 at 7:30PM in the orchestra room.

As you have seen in previous emails, the County Budget cuts still remain with even greater concern over the Elementary School Band and Orchestra programs being cut. We have an excellent opportunity to speak with Fairfax County School Board Chairman Kathy L. Smith and Fairfax County Supervisor Michael R. Frey. They will hold an informational meeting to discuss budget issues facing the county and the schools in FY 2011 on Monday, March 1, at 7 p.m. in the little theater at Rocky Run Middle School. Yes, that is tomorrow evening! This is your opportunity to ask questions about the upcoming County Budget recommendations. Now is the time to also write our Board of Supervisor member (Michael R. Frey) and Chairperson Bulova, before March 6, expressing your support for full funding of the School Board budget request, and for the needed revenue to enable this. Finally, this is the week for the last band spring trip payment. PLEASE insure that it and the paperwork that was sent home are turned in by this Friday, March 5.
